Postojna is a town in the traditional region of Inner Carniola, in southwestern Slovenia. It is well-known for its Postojna Cave, one of the largest karst cave systems in the world, which is over 24,000 meters long. The cave is a major tourist attraction, receiving thousands of visitors each year who come to explore its stalactites, stalagmites, and unique subterranean ecosystem. Postojna also boasts a quaint town center with historical buildings, museums, and a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling in the nearby forests. The town is also known for the Predjama Castle, built within a cave mouth and located about 9 km from Postojna.

Postojna Cave

This karst cave is one of the largest in Europe and hosts an underground railway that takes visitors through the caverns. The cave is also home to a large amount of wildlife, including the proteus, blind white salamanders that are unique to the region.

Predjama Castle

This 15th-century castle is located on a 123-meter high cliff and can only be accessed via a drawbridge. The castle was originally built as a refuge for a robber knight and features a series of secret passages and hidden chambers.
