Brașov is a city in Romania and the administrative center of Brașov County. It is located in the central part of the country, about 166 km (103 mi) north of Bucharest and 380 km (236 mi) from the Black Sea. Brașov is known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church, and lively cafes. It is also home to the renowned ski resort, Poiana Brașov. Bran Castle, often associated with the Dracula legend, is situated nearby. The city is quite picturesque, surrounded by the southern Carpathian Mountains, and offers many opportunities for tourism and recreational activities.
