Athens

Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the center of Ancient Greece, a powerful empire and civilization. In the city, sites from the 5th century BC still predominate, including the Acropolis, a citadel on a hill with ancient buildings like the Parthenon temple with its columns. In the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum, sculptures, vases, jewelry, and more elements from Ancient Greece are preserved.

Acropolis

The Acropolis of Athens can be considered the most representative of the Greek acropoleis. The acropolis was, literally, the high city and was present in most Greek cities, with a dual function: defensive and as the seat of the main places of worship.

Parthenon of Athens

The Parthenon is a temple dedicated to the protector of Athens, Athena Parthenos, and one of the main octastyle Doric temples, which is uncommon, made of white Pentelic marble and covered with Parian marble tiles, which are preserved. It was built between 447 BC and 438 BC.

Panathenaic Stadium

The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as the Kallimarmaro, is an athletics stadium in Athens, Greece, that hosted the first edition of the Modern Olympic Games in Athens 1896. Reconstructed from the remains of an ancient Greek stadium.

Temple of Zeus

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympeion, is a temple in Athens. Although begun in the 6th century BC, it was not completed until the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century. In the Hellenistic and Roman periods, it was the largest temple in Greece.
