Mont Saint Michel

Mont Saint-Michel is a small rocky island and mainland commune in Normandy, France. It is best known for the remarkable and iconic abbey that stands on the island, which attracts millions of visitors each year. The island was originally a strategic stronghold and is located approximately 1 kilometer off the country's northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. Accessible only at low tide via a causeway, its medieval streets and architecture have made it one of France's most recognisable landmarks.
