Medieval bridge of Cangas de Onís

El Puentón is one of the symbols of Asturias. It is part of the coat of arms of Cangas de Onís, along with the cross over the inverted crescent moon that recalls the victory over the Muslims in the Battle of Covadonga and the legend Minima urbium, maxima sedium (smallest city, greatest seat). It is a medieval construction from the reign of Alfonso XI of Castile.
