Tunis is the capital and largest city of Tunisia. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, near the Mediterranean coast. The city is known for its rich history, blending Arab, Berber, Turkish, and French influences. Navigating through Tunis, one can visit the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore its maze of narrow streets, bustling souks, and ancient mosques. Modern Tunis also offers contemporary attractions, including the Avenue Habib Bourguiba and the Bardo National Museum, home to a vast collection of Roman mosaics. Its coastal proximity makes Carthage, an ancient historical site, and beautiful beaches just a short ride away.

Tunis is the extensive capital of the eponymous country, in the north of Africa. It is located next to Lake Tunis, within the Gulf of Tunis, in the Mediterranean Sea. It hosts a centennial medina and the Bardo, an archaeological museum located in a 15th-century palace complex where famous Roman mosaics are exhibited. The ruins of ancient Carthage are found in the residential suburbs in the north of the city.

Medina of Tunis

The Medina of Tunis was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. The medina is the center of the city of Tunis: a group of narrow streets and covered passageways, full of dense smells and colors, bustling and active centers of trade and barter. It is built on a hill that gently slopes down to the Behira Lagoon to the east.
