Pyramids of Giza

The Giza Necropolis is located on the Giza plateau, west of the namesake town, about twenty kilometers from Cairo, Egypt. It began to be used during the second dynasty, with pottery dated to the reign of Nynecher.

Cairo, the vast capital of Egypt, is located on the Nile River. In its center is Tahrir Square and the vast Egyptian Museum, a treasure trove of antiquities that includes royal mummies and gold-covered artifacts of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Nearby is Giza, the site of the iconic pyramids and the Great Sphinx, dating from the 26th century BC. In the leafy Zamalek district on Gezira Island, the 187-meter tall Cairo Tower offers panoramic views of the city.
